Brownfield sites are properties that are, or may be, contaminated with hazardous substances and are either sitting idle or are underutilized. They threaten the environment, drain the economy and spoil quality of life. New Jersey is burdened with more than 10,000 Brownfield projects.

We value the community-- and our redevelopment of numerous Brownfield projects reflect these values. We help protect the environment and preserve open space and every acre of Brownfield redevelopment spares 4.5 acres of pristine land from development. Redevelopment also boosts local tax revenue, creates jobs and improves the quality of life for area residents. Our most recent project encompasses a three-building complex of approximately 825,000 square feet in Clifton, N.J.. We’ve also completed Redevelopment in Edison, Teterboro and Newark, New Jersey , creating new industrial developments in excess of 2 million square feet. In 1991, we also completed a Brownfield project which involved the total redevelopment of a manufacturing facility to a 466 apartment complex in N.J., improving the quality of life for local residents.

Each Brownfield site presents its own unique challenges in regards to addressing the complete remediation of significant environmental concerns. In each instance, The Morris Companies establishes a working relationship with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to insure that all work is done in accordance with all governmental requirements and that each is completed in an efficient and economical manner. The Morris Companies experience and proven track record of handling complex environmental matters allows it to handle the multiple types of environmental hazards that may present themselves on each site, including but not limited to the removal and remediation of dioxins, soil, volatile organics, PCB's, lead, ink and to ground water remediation for contaminated radioactive materials.
